Margit Rodahl, age 102, of Maple Plain, MN, formerly of Wells, MN, died Monday, October 11, 2021 at Haven Homes Skilled Nursing facility in Maple Plain, MN.       Margit was born May 16, 1919 on the island of Tysnes, Norway, the daughter of Ole and Anna (Nesthus) Singelstad.   She was baptized July 13, 1919, at Oharheim Church on Tysnes, Norway. Margit, at the age of 10, along with her parents, her grandmother Agathe Nesthus, and two younger siblings emigrated to the United States. The family settled in Lake Mills, IA, where Margit was confirmed at Winnebago Church. She graduated from Lake Mills high school in 1938.  In 1941 she was united in marriage to Walter Rockwell, who was killed in 1944 during WWII in New Guinea.  In 1952, Margit was married to Lewis Rodahl.  Margit and her husband Lewis worked together in a grocery business in Wells which they owned and operated for several years. In 1966 they bought the Laundromat in Wells and operated that for several years, as well as KayMar’s Knit and Gift Shop in the late 1960’s.  At age 50, Margit went back to school at Mankato Vo-Tech to become a Licensed Practical Nurse. She worked for 20 years at Parkview Care Center as an LPN.  Margit was an active hospice volunteer. She was a member and a past president of the Wells Senior Citizens.  She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, serving on the church council, a member of the Altar Guild, Senior Saints, Stephen Ministries and Hope Circle.  In her free time, Margit enjoyed playing cards, knitting, crocheting and bird watching.  Margit was an active reader her entire life.  She loved her Norwegian heritage. She followed her favorite baseball team, the Minnesota Twins, faithfully since their arrival in Minnesota in 1961. Family was the most important thing to Margit; she loved spending time with them, especially her two granddaughters who were her pride and joy.

     She is survived by her son Mark (wife Cindy) Rodahl of Wayzata, MN; two grandchildren, Elizabeth Hegna of Elk River, MN and Oksana Rodahl of Wayzata, MN; great- grandson Merrick Hegna; two nieces, Sharyl Singelstad and Linda Singelstad, both of Cedar Rapids, IA; three nephews, Jon Singelstad of Cedar Rapids, IA, Brian (Dorothy) Hess and Eric Hess, both of the Seattle, WA area; and several cousins.

     She is preceded in death by her parents; first husband Walter Rockwell; second husband Lewis Rodahl; siblings: Christopher Singelstad, Aagot Hess and Hilma Singelstad; nephew Steve Singelstad; many aunts, uncles, and cousins, both in Norway and the U.S.
