Grace Lydia Miller was the third of four children born June 7, 1932, to Malte and Lydia (Blume) Glaubitz in rural Vernon Center. She was baptized June 26, 1932 and confirmed in the Christian faith on March 30, 1947, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Amboy. She attended school in rural Amboy. Grace married Herman William Miller May 1, 1953 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church Amboy. She was a loving wife and mother and a passionate gardener. Grace farmed side-by-side with Herman and together they raised five children. Grace felt most at home while in her garden or kitchen. She decorated many beautiful cakes over the years, helping family and friends celebrate life’s significant milestones. The abundance from her garden was generously shared with many. If Grace knew you, you were guaranteed to be a beneficiary of something wonderful from her garden – whether it be a basket of strawberries, raspberries, vegetables, or a beautiful bouquet of flowers. She always shared the very best of her crop. When it wasn’t gardening season, Grace spent time quilting and embroidering special gifts. She would not let anything go to waste and found a purpose for everything, from the smallest scrap of fabric to the last apple that fell from the tree. Grace also actively served her church and community well into her retirement by being active in Ladies Aid and the American Legion Auxiliary. Grace lived a humble life of commitment and service to God, family and community and will be greatly missed.

Grace is survived by four children and their spouses; Marilyn (Virgil) Vollbrecht, Hamburg, MN, Ron (Cheryl) Miller, Mapleton, MN; Ruth (Steve) Vance, Chanhassen, MN; and Linda (Alan) Albrecht, Mapleton, MN; ten grandchildren, Eric (Angie) Vollbrecht, Lynn Vollbrecht, Lance (Stephanie) Miller, Amy (Bikash) Koju, Alan (Alexa) Miller, Daniel (Clarissa) Miller, Taylor (Derek) Osterud and Samuel (Grace) Vance, Andrew and Ryan Albrecht; eight great-grandchildren Ian and Henry Vollbrecht, Lillyann and Adalyn Miller, Cayden, Emmett, and Alex Koju, and Ariana Vance. One brother Norman (Betty) Glaubitz, several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her oldest son, Marvin Miller in November 1986, husband Herman in October 2017 and two sisters: Mary (Art) Wilson, Cora (Wilmer) Borchardt.
