Bill Sievers, 92, passed away peacefully on June 17, 2021 following a brief battle with cancer. Memorial Services will be held at 1:00 PM Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells, MN with Paster Dawn Quame officiating.  Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.  Interment will be at the Pilgrims Rest Cemetery in Mankato, MN with full military honors.

He was born November 16, 1928 in Slayton, MN to William and Violet Sievers of Wilmont, MN.  He graduated from Worthington High School in 1946 and then served in the US Army occupational forces in Japan as a sergeant under General Douglas McArthur until 1948.

He graduated from Worthington Jr. College in 1950, Mankato State in 1952, and received a Masters degree from the University of Northern Colorado in 1961.

He married Mayreen Ann Oldewurtel on November 20, 1954 and Marlene Korman Gadola on October 28,1989.

Bill taught high school business topics in Ellsworth, MN (1953-57), Luverne, MN (1957-70), and Mankato (1970-87). He retired from Mankato East in 1987.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Marlene. He will be remembered as a loving father by his  children and their families: Amy Patrice of Clermont, FL, Mark William of Brooklyn Park, MN (wife Ann, grandchildren Katherine Mayreen & Daniel Jerome), and Heidi Denise Dauer of Mankato, MN (grandchildren Talia May & Savannah Denise, great grandson Braxton Mathew), stepsons Alan and Robert Gadola, and other nieces and nephews.

He was preceeded in death by his wife of 30 years, Mayreen (January 7, 1985), his father (March 8, 1978), mother (January 21, 1992), and sister, Corrine Fayne Colgan (December 16, 1995).

He loved golfing, walking, dancing and playing cards.  His sense of humor and concern for others were always present, even in his final days.
